Education: DVM from Washington State University
Dr. Karl graduated before the turn of the century from Washington State University. He has been here in Coos Bay since 1990 when he bought Morgan Veterinary Hospital from Phillip.
He has a deep and abiding interest in patient wellness, now our focus is prevention and improved quality of life. Exciting improvements in diagnosis and imaging continue to provide for improved patient wellness and enhance diagnostic capabilities.

Mary Maddox, DVM
Veterinarian
Dr. Mary Maddox graduated from University of Tennessee College of veterinary medicine in 1984.
Throughout her career in small animal medication and surgery, she has enjoyed watching many expressions of the human/animal bond. The other aspect of veterinary practice Dr. Maddox find rewarding is working with colleague and mentoring new graduates.
Erin Jernstedt, DVM
Veterinarian
Dr. Erin Jernstedt, DVM was raised in Morgan Veterinary Hospital and worked as an assistant for many years before going to vet school at Ross University. Her undergraduate degrees in Agriculture Business Management and Animal Science. She works on small and large animals. She likes to focus on dentistry, dermatology, and herd health management. With her family she raises beef cattle and Hampshire sheep. She enjoys crafting, helping 4-H kids, and showing livestock. Purple is her life color. Her pets include Kaddie the Mini Dachshund and Phoenix the domestic long hair cat.
Austin Knapp, DVM
Equine Veterinarian
Dr. Knapp joins the Veterinary team at Morgan Veterinary, in Coos Bay. He has over 20 years of experience working with animals prior to veterinary school. Since graduating from Ross University in 2019, he completed Externships at Oklahoma State University Equine Hospital and Dufur Ranch Quarter Horses.
During a three year associate veterinary position at Strain Equine Services he performed mobile and in clinic services, such as wellness, preventative care, reproductive services, neonatal care and emergency care. The hospital he worked in for three years provided, was 24 hour care for ill and injured patients.
